The Initiative Black and White Ghana, is a not for profit and non-governmental organisation that stands for human rights, peace and justice. Our goal is to have a world with life in dignity for all in the sense of  the Universal  Declaration of Human Rights and the UN Charter. Since our founding in 2013, we have been determined to working towards making an impact through our various activities.

Many non-profit organisations in Ghana tend to undertake more humanitarian projects by supporting the needy and the less privileged which is is very important and a good deed to do but we realised that it is also very necessary  that the citizens and the common people rise up themselves to work together to ensure that they and every individual gets if not all, most of the human rights they are entitled to, to live a life in dignity, as the Chinese saying goes, “It is better to teach a man how to fish than giving him fish” If organisations continue to just offer humanitarian assistance without really tackling and finding solutions to the root causes of the problems and issues hindering the effective manifestation of the human rights, the people will continue to suffer and always be expecting that someone comes to their aid, but if citizens are empowered to stand for their rights and ensure through active participation that the leaders who they vote into power are working and making not just theoritical but practical policies which will benefit the general public and not just some few privileged ones, then together solutions and proposals could be brought forward to help solve and eradicate the many human rights problems we have in the country.

One of the founding members, Eunice Oduro, after coming in contact with Wolfgang Lieberknecht, a founding member of the Initiative Black and White Germany, realised that it is better to be part of finding solutions to the existing problems than playing the Blame Game, and also to overcome something bad, one needs to develop a better alternative. We therefore decided to establish Initiative Black and White Ghana  which will create awareness and make advocacy programs that will empower the citizens of Ghana to stand for their rights and together find solutions which will help solve the many social, economic and political human rights issues in the country.

Our vision is to see all Ghanaians living a life in dignity and advocates that all Ghanaians get the human rights, which they are entitled after the global Constitution, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights since 1948.

  •  Promoting the implementation of social and political human rights in Ghana.

  •  Promoting the awareness that Ghanaians can only achieve through their own commitment to building their society, their economy and their country the implementation of human rights.

  • Promoting the interconnection of all people living across all ethnic or religious differences in Ghana to achieve these goals.

  • Promoting African and global association for the construction of a just and peaceful Africa and a peaceful and just world with the same political and social human rights for all people in Africa and around the world in the spirit of the UN Charter and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

  •  Advocates the strengthening of the African Union for intra-African cooperation in the spirit of the UN Charter and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and for the strengthening of the United Nations for global cooperation to achieve these goals we are advocating for greater democratization of the two organizations.

  •  We see in civil society involvement and association of citizens the ultimate means to move the Ghanaian government and the international community to engage with their decisions to create decent life for all, and to resolve conflicts only peacefully and ban violence and wars.  The association seeks therefore also the dialogue with the state level.
